Purpose of the role:

This position requires excellent functional competencies in R&D coupled with demonstrated capacity to serve as a true Business Partner for the Griffco Team. Leads R&D implementation of technical, regulatory, and formula security, to support the overall business strategy. Manages R&D activities by performing the following duties personally. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Initiating, evaluating, directing, executing and implementing plans, reporting on activities related to developing new products, improvements or cost savings ideas.
  • Lead and Support the business growth plans by taking a customer-facing, proactive approach to the delivery of new products.
  • Develop & Execute strategic plan and activities aligned with GRIFFCO Foods Purpose Driven Strategy and Long Term and Operating plan. 
  • Functions as a team leader and head in the execution of technical strategies and activities that support the overall activities supporting GRIFFCO and overall business strategy. 
  • Responsible to deliver the Profitable NPDs, on time and in full to meet Griffco Growth Plans. Collaborates with Supply Chain to link product formulation activities to commercial fulfilment efficiencies and production of safe and regulatory-compliant food products.
  • Collaborates with Sales, Culinary and Marketing peers to assign, manage, and prioritize projects for key accounts.
  • Defines and implements R&D and Regulatory processes and metrics to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the function.
  • Leads Innovation activities that support the long-term strategy of the organization. Responsible for Progress and reporting of all products under development and in pipelines. Leverages methods and procedures for monitoring project success, such as metrics, resource investment, expenditures, and research findings.
  • Leads key department initiatives. 
  • Leads or participates in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Represents R&D in professional business relationships with Griffco client and supplier base, academia, government, and corporations in the food industry.
  • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing the security of all information regarding product formulas and related confidential information.
  • Directs reviews and audits to provide regular reports and recommendations to management regarding formula security performance.
  • Implements contingency plan for coverage of key R&D roles if an associate is unable to perform their assigned duties.
  • Leads or supports initiatives to expand core capabilities, with a focus on Food Science, Health & Nutrition as well as all other new capabilities. This includes thought leadership on new capabilities needed to support technical excellence.
  • Maintains GLPs, GMP and all required laboratory records using electronic systems and written protocols.
  • Communicates internally with other Manufacturing units to exchange technical information and project timing. Communicates externally with customers, processors, and suppliers

Qualifications:

    • PG/ Bachelor in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry or related technical degree.
    • 8-10 years of experience in Research & Development within the food industry. 
    • Experience should include a strong understanding of working with large and mid-sized QSR / Food Service / Snack and Protein customers. Business-to-business strategy.
    • Extensive experience in working directly with customers and manufacturing facilities. Travel expectations up to 40%.
    • Demonstrated experience that emphasizes collaborative decision-making and a high degree of coordination between functions.
    • Deep knowledge in the field of Culinary (wet and dry condiments and savoury) technology and science.

Purpose of the role:

The Commercialization Project Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective management of product launches, including new items, item changes, or other projects requiring cross-functional alignment. The role is focused on driving alignment and efficient progress for prioritized projects, to deliver on time and on budget.

Responsibilities include leading cross-functional team meetings, publishing notes, follow-ups, next steps, and timelines, ensuring that key milestones are met and that the team is all aware of latest progress and is completing tasks, while providing ongoing tracking and measuring of success.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Drive and manage innovation, renovation, and productivity projects, while assuring business alignment and high-quality products. 
  • Management of artwork internally, including external agencies and governmental bodies.
  • Work with cross functional teams and business partners to ensure projects are successfully executed and delivered on time and within budget. 
  • Effectively interact with many cross-functional team members, including Sales, Culinary, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, and Finance. 
  • Accountable for project timelines, financials, action plans and risk management.
  • Organize, report and communicate the project activity to executive management

Qualification:

  • PG in business or other relevant area. 
  • One to three years of PM experience in the food industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint – Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and Microsoft Project a plus. 
  • Experience with Workfront or similar PM software. 
  • PMP certification is a mandate.
  • Role requires excellent project and time management skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple diverse audiences. 
  • Requires a proven track record of personal accountability, delivering results, and displaying collaborative skills, aligned to the values of the organization. 
  • Must be comfortable managing multiple, sometimes conflicting priorities and deadlines, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to create detailed timelines and specific action plans for projects.
  • Requires good presentation skills and the ability to synthesize project details into a concise, impactful summary adapted to the audience.
